To fish Bristol Hopper flies, you can try these tips:

• Cast and retrieve: Start with a static fly, then try short, gentle retrieves. If there are no bites, try gradually increasing the length of your retrieves. 
• Slap and drift: Cast the fly in, then let it drift. 
• Fish semi-swamped: Fish the fly almost like a wet fly to create a furrow through wave tops. 
• Use short leaders: Bristol Hoppers are big flies, so you can use short leaders that are easy to cast. 
• Fish on hot, windy afternoons: Trout like hot weather, and you'll find your best hopper fishing on hot windy afternoons. 

Bristol Hoppers are versatile dry flies that can be fished static, twitched, pulled, or sunk. They're a great general still water dry fly and are highly effective.
